What Is the Sigenergy SigenStor?

The Sigenergy SigenStor is an all-in-one home energy system that combines a solar inverter, a modular battery, optional integrated EV charging and whole-home backup in a single stacked unit. Where a conventional installation bolts together a separate inverter, battery and gateway from different manufacturers, the SigenStor puts them under one roof, managed by one controller and one app. That means fewer boxes on the wall, fewer points of failure and a single system looking after your solar, your storage, your car charging and your backup.

It is a genuinely modular design. You start with the capacity you need today and add battery modules later as your usage grows — when you get an EV, add a heat pump, or simply want more stored energy through winter. For homes that are electrifying step by step, that flexibility is the SigenStor's main appeal.

Modular Battery — Start Right, Grow Later

The SigenStor battery is built from stackable modules (typically 6 kWh and 9 kWh), so a single stack can scale from around 6 kWh up to roughly 54 kWh. You buy the capacity that matches your usage now and expand later without replacing the inverter or starting again. For a household that expects to add an EV or a heat pump in the next few years, that headroom is worth having.

Integrated EV Charging

The SigenStor supports integrated EV charging through an optional DC module (rated 12.5 kW or 25 kW) that draws directly from your solar and battery for faster charging with fewer conversion losses, and Sigenergy also offer a separate AC EV charger (around 7–22 kW). Whether either earns its place depends on your car, your driving and your budget; we will talk it through honestly at survey and only specify it if it earns its place.

Whole-Home Backup and Smart Energy Management

With the Sigen Gateway, the SigenStor can provide whole-home backup on both single- and three-phase supplies, switching over near-instantly when the grid drops so your home keeps running. The mySigen app gives you near-real-time visibility of solar generation, home use, battery level and grid flow, and the system works with time-of-use tariffs such as Octopus Agile, Flux and Go to charge when electricity is cheapest and discharge when it is dear.

Sigenergy SigenStor vs Tesla Powerwall 3

Both are premium, whole-home systems, and we install both — so we can be straight about the trade-offs. The Powerwall 3 is a superbly polished, fixed-capacity unit with a first-class app. The SigenStor is more configurable: modular capacity, native three-phase, and optional DC EV charging. Which one is right depends on your home, not on which brand we would rather sell.

If you want the simplest possible premium battery and a fixed 13.5 kWh suits your home, the Tesla Powerwall 3 is hard to beat. If you want modular capacity you can grow, a three-phase supply handled natively, or the option of DC EV charging from one system, the SigenStor pulls ahead. We are Tesla Certified as well, so our advice is not tied to one product.

Three-Phase Homes, Farms and Rural Properties

A lot of County Durham and North Yorkshire properties — farmhouses, converted barns, larger rural homes and small commercial units — run on a three-phase supply, and many battery systems handle three-phase awkwardly or not at all. The SigenStor supports three-phase natively at higher inverter ratings, which makes it a strong fit for heavier loads: workshop machinery, multiple EVs, heat pumps and larger solar arrays. If you have a three-phase supply, it is one of the few all-in-one systems genuinely designed for it.

Is the SigenStor Worth the Premium?

The SigenStor sits at the premium end of the market, and we would rather you spent your money well than spent more of it. Here is the honest version.

If your plan is simply to add a battery to an existing solar system and store cheap overnight energy, you probably do not need a SigenStor — a Tesla Powerwall will do that core job well for less. Where the SigenStor earns its premium is on homes that are going all-in on electrification, that have a three-phase supply, or that want one system to grow with them. SigenStor Pricing Guidance

As a guide, a full Sigenergy solar-and-battery SigenStor system is typically £10,000–£13,500 installed, including 0% VAT on residential battery and solar. Storage-only or retrofit configurations cost less; adding the optional DC EV charging module costs more. Every one of those figures is a guide only — your fixed, written price is confirmed after Andy has surveyed your property, because roof, supply, battery size and cabling all move the number.
