Cookie Policy
This policy explains how ALPS Electrical uses cookies and similar technologies on our website.
What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files that are placed on your device (computer, tablet or mobile phone) when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work more efficiently, provide a better browsing experience, and supply information to website owners.
Cookies can be “persistent” (remaining on your device until they expire or you delete them) or “session” cookies (deleted when you close your browser). They can be set by the website you are visiting (“first-party cookies”) or by third-party services embedded in the website (“third-party cookies”).
Cookie Categories
We categorise the cookies used on our website into four groups:
Strictly NecessaryAlways active
These cookies are essential for the website to function and cannot be switched off. They are usually set in response to actions you take such as setting your privacy preferences, logging in or filling in forms. Without these cookies, the website cannot function properly.
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| cookie_consent | Stores your cookie consent preferences | 1 year |
| session_id | Maintains your browsing session | Session |

These cookies help us understand how visitors interact with our website by collecting and reporting information anonymously. This data helps us improve the website and tailor our content to what visitors find most useful.
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| _ga | Google Analytics: Distinguishes unique users | 2 years |
| _ga_* | Google Analytics 4: Maintains session state | 2 years |
| _gid | Google Analytics: Distinguishes users for 24 hours | 24 hours |

These cookies enable enhanced functionality and personalisation, such as remembering your preferences and settings. They may be set by us or by third-party providers whose services we have added to our pages.
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| user_preferences | Stores user interface preferences | 1 year |
Third-Party / Embedded ContentRequires consent
Our website embeds content from third-party services, primarily YouTube videos showcasing our installations. These services may set their own cookies when you interact with embedded content.
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| YSC | YouTube: Tracks views of embedded videos | Session |
| VISITOR_INFO1_LIVE | YouTube: Estimates user bandwidth | 6 months |
| CONSENT | YouTube/Google: Stores cookie consent state | 2 years |
We use YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com) where possible. This means YouTube does not set tracking cookies until you actively click to play a video.
How to Manage Cookies
You can control and manage cookies in several ways. Please note that removing or blocking cookies may impact your browsing experience and some website features may not function as intended.
Browser Settings
Most web browsers allow you to control cookies through their settings. You can typically find these in the “Options”, “Settings” or “Preferences” menu of your browser. The following links provide instructions for popular browsers:
- Google Chrome: Settings > Privacy and Security > Cookies and Other Site Data
- Mozilla Firefox: Settings > Privacy & Security > Cookies and Site Data
- Safari: Preferences > Privacy > Manage Website Data
- Microsoft Edge: Settings > Cookies and Site Permissions > Manage and Delete Cookies
Google Analytics Opt-Out
To specifically opt out of Google Analytics tracking across all websites, you can install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
Do Not Track
Some browsers offer a “Do Not Track” (DNT) setting. While there is no universal standard for how websites should respond to DNT signals, we respect your privacy preferences and encourage you to use the cookie management options described above for the most reliable control over tracking.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this cookie policy from time to time to reflect changes in our use of cookies or for other operational, legal or regulatory reasons. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
