RECC member

The Renewable Energy Consumer Code sets high standards of consumer protection for businesses selling renewable energy systems to homeowners. Set up in 2006, it is approved by the Chartered Trading Standards Institute. MCS covers the technical standard of your installation; RECC makes sure you are treated fairly as a customer.

Electrical safety

NAPIT registered

NAPIT is a government-approved Competent Person Scheme for electrical work. Registered businesses are regularly assessed to make sure their work is safe and meets UK wiring regulations and Building Regulations.

Refrigerant handling

REFCOM registered

REFCOM is the UK’s leading F-Gas certification register, run by the Building Engineering Services Association (BESA) and appointed by government. By law, any business installing or servicing air conditioning, refrigeration or heat pump equipment that contains F-gas refrigerants must hold F-Gas company certification.

• Legally certified to install, service and maintain equipment containing refrigerants.
• Qualified engineers holding the required F-Gas qualifications, plus natural refrigerant (hydrocarbon) training.
• Safe handling with the right equipment and procedures to prevent leaks and recover gas safely.
• Better for the planet. Leaking refrigerants are powerful greenhouse gases, so doing it properly matters.

TrustMark registered

TrustMark is the Government Endorsed Quality scheme for work carried out in and around the home. Businesses are only registered after checks on their technical competence, customer service and trading practices, and they continue to be monitored once registered.

Tesla Certified Installer

We are certified by Tesla to design, install and commission Tesla Powerwall home batteries, so your Powerwall is fitted by a team Tesla has trained and approved.

OZEV authorised installer

The Office for Zero Emission Vehicles (OZEV) is the government office supporting the switch to electric vehicles. Only OZEV authorised installers can claim government EV chargepoint grants on a customer’s behalf.

Quality standards

MCS certified

MCS is the UK’s quality mark for small-scale renewable energy, including solar PV and battery storage. It is run by The MCS Charitable Foundation, an independent not-for-profit, and sets the standards installers and products must meet. Certified installers are regularly assessed on the quality of their work, their financial stability and how they treat customers.

• Quality you can rely on. Designed and installed to national standards with MCS certified products.
• Earn from your solar. An MCS certificate is normally required for Smart Export Guarantee payments.
• Proof of a proper installation. Useful if you ever sell your home.

Insurance-backed through IWA

Our 6-year workmanship guarantee

Every installation comes with a 6-year guarantee on our workmanship. That is three times the 2-year minimum that has long been standard across the industry.

It is backed by the Independent Warranty Association (IWA), a specialist in insurance-backed guarantees since 1985, authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. If Alps Electrical were ever unable to honour our guarantee, for example because we had ceased trading, the insurance steps in to honour its terms instead.

• 6 years of cover on our installation work from completion.
• Protected if we can’t be there. Your cover doesn’t disappear if we stop trading.
• Your deposit is protected.
• Transfers with your home if you sell, subject to policy terms.
• FSCS-covered insurance for an extra layer of security.
• Solar PV and battery storage covered where named on your policy.
• In writing. Policy documents are issued with your MCS certificate.
