What’s Involved in the Installation

Most home installations are completed in around two to four hours. We’ll fit the charger where you want it, run the cable neatly, install a dedicated circuit with the correct protection at your consumer unit, then test, commission and set up the app with you. We notify your DNO, Northern Powergrid, where that’s required, and leave you with your certification. Every installation meets the wiring regulations and the specific requirements for EV charging equipment.

Can I get a grant for my home EV charger?

Only if you rent your home, own a flat, or are a landlord, and have dedicated off-street parking. Homeowners of houses are no longer eligible.

Up to £500 towards the cost, available until 31 March 2027.

If you are eligible, we can apply on your behalf as part of the installation.

Can my EV charger run on solar power?

Yes. Solar-aware chargers like the myenergi Zappi can charge your car using surplus solar electricity that would otherwise be exported to the grid.

Do I need to tell the electricity network about my charger?

Yes. EV chargers must be notified to your network operator, which in our area is Northern Powergrid. We handle this for you as part of the installation.

Will I need a new consumer unit?

Sometimes. We check your consumer unit and earthing at the survey. If an upgrade is needed, we will include it clearly in your quote before any work starts.

Can you install a charger for my business?

Yes. We install chargers for workplaces, retail premises, hospitality venues and housing developments, and can apply for Workplace Charging Scheme funding on your behalf.
