The honest answer
There is no published UK price for a Sigenergy SigenStor, and that is not evasion — it is what the product is. A SigenStor is a kit you configure, not a single box you buy, so the only honest price is the one that comes back after somebody has looked at your roof, your consumer unit and how you use electricity.
Anyone publishing a precise SigenStor price without having seen your property is guessing. Sigenergy puts no UK pricing on its own website, and we are not going to invent one to give this page a number.
What follows is what genuinely moves the figure and what our quotes contain. We are an early adopter of the Sigenergy SigenStor in the North East — we install and commission SigenStor systems and have two complete installs documented on our YouTube channel, and Andy Pemberton surveys and specifies every system we quote.
Why there is no list price
Sigenergy describes SigenStor as a "5-in-One" system: solar inverter, EV DC charger, battery power conversion, battery pack and energy management in one stackable unit. That is why a single price cannot exist — two households buying "a SigenStor" can be buying quite different amounts of hardware.
A quote is assembled from named parts: a Sigen Energy Controller (the hybrid inverter and EMS head unit, single-phase or three-phase), some number of SigenStor BAT battery modules, a BC battery connector, optionally a Sigen Energy Gateway for backup, and optionally an EVDC module for DC car charging.
Sigenergy brought SigenStor to the UK at Solar & Storage Live in Birmingham on 17 October 2023, with a distribution partnership with Alternergy. The price you pay is set by your installer and their supply route — the same as Tesla, which publishes no UK Powerwall price either.
What actually drives the price
How many battery modules, and which ones
The biggest single lever. One Energy Controller takes one to six modules, and Sigenergy publishes two generations: the BAT 5.0 (5.38 kWh total, 5.2 usable) and BAT 8.0 (8.06 / 7.8) on 280 Ah cells, and the BAT 6.0 (6.02 / 5.84) and BAT 10.0 (9.04 / 8.76) on 314 Ah cells. Six BAT 10.0 modules on one controller come to 54.24 kWh total, 52.56 usable.
Ask which modules you are being quoted, by name, and compare usable kWh rather than headline kWh. The genuine cost lever is that every pack carries a built-in DC-DC optimiser, which Sigenergy says allows packs to be paralleled with "mixed use of old & new batteries" of different capacities and states of health. Buy fewer modules now, add more in three years, and they need not match what you already own. If cash flow is the constraint, that beats any discount.
Single-phase or three-phase, and how much solar
The single-phase Energy Controller runs from 3.0 to 12.0 kW nominal AC output; three-phase from 5.0 to 30.0 kW at 380/400 V, and costs more. The controller also has to swallow the array: single-phase takes 6,000 W of PV input on the EC 3.0 up to 24,000 W on the EC 12.0, over two to four MPP trackers with one string each; three-phase takes 8,000 W to 48,000 W. A roof split across three or four faces needs more trackers, which pushes you up the controller range — and that costs more than the extra panels do.
Backup — the biggest yes-or-no on the quote
Sigenergy quotes 0 ms disruption on the load side at switchover, footnoted as requiring a Sigen Energy Gateway alongside the Energy Controller and battery, with the controller's nominal power exceeding the total backup load. Backup is not a setting. It is hardware, and it is a real line on the quote.
The Gateway HomePro comes as SP (12 kW / 54.6 A), SP-F (22 kW / 100 A) and TP (three-phase, 30 kW / 45.6 A), and Sigenergy says the SP-F "fully supports 100 amp single-phase backup power for the entire home". Decide this before you ask for prices — adding a gateway afterwards costs more, because the board work gets done twice.
Whether the EV DC module is in scope
The SigenStor EVDC 12 charges at up to 12.5 kW DC in standard mode and, on specific models, can be licence-upgraded to 25 kW. It uses a CCS2 connector with an integrated 7.5 m or 10 m cable and must be used with the Energy Controller. Sigenergy markets it as bi-directional, but says V2X is limited by the EV's capabilities and can be upgraded over the air once the relevant standards are published — so treat it as V2X-ready and vehicle-dependent. To charge a car overnight, an AC charge point does the job for a fraction of the money.
And everything that is nothing to do with Sigenergy
Scaffolding, board work, cable route length, and where the stack goes. These are what make two quotes for identical hardware differ, and they are settled at survey. Modules weigh 55 kg to 78 kg each and are floor-standing or wall-mounted; everything is IP66, so outdoors is allowed, though Sigenergy's warranty document recommends a battery working temperature of 10°C to 30°C. And somebody has to make the network operator application — check it is in the price.
What is in our quotes
We itemise, because the whole point of this page is that the spec is the price. A SigenStor quote from us sets out:
- The survey and design — Andy Pemberton looks at the roof, the board, the cable route and your usage before anything is priced.
- The hardware, named: which Energy Controller, how many modules and which model, the battery connector, and the gateway or EV DC module if they are in scope.
- The electrical work: board alterations, protective devices, the cable route and making good.
- The network operator application, commissioning, mySigen app setup and handover.
Scaffolding, groundwork or access equipment sit on their own lines, so you can see what changes if you drop a module or leave the gateway out. 0% VAT, and the date it ends
HMRC's VAT Notice 708/6 applies a zero rate to the installation of certain specified energy-saving materials from 1 May 2023 to 31 March 2027, reverting to the 5% reduced rate from 1 April 2027. Since 1 February 2024 electrical storage batteries installed in residential accommodation qualify — retrofits to existing microgeneration, standalone batteries charged from the grid, and batteries fitted alongside new microgeneration.
So a SigenStor fitted to a house today should be zero-rated, and a quote showing VAT on the battery installation is worth a question. If your plan is to do this "at some point", 31 March 2027 is the reason to pick a point.
How it compares in shape to a Powerwall 3
We publish quote guidance of from £8,500 installed for a Tesla Powerwall 3. That is ALPS's own figure — Tesla publishes no UK price for the Powerwall, so nobody should present one as Tesla's.
Why can we give a "from" number for one battery and not the other? Shape. A Powerwall 3 is a single fixed unit: the capacity is what it is, and the variables are mostly the backup configuration and how much electrical work the house needs. A SigenStor is a stack — controller size, how many modules and which model, single or three phase, gateway or not, EV DC module or not. A "from" number would describe the smallest configuration anyone could buy, and almost nobody buys the smallest configuration.
In shape rather than in pounds: a single-phase SigenStor with one or two modules and no gateway is in the same conversation as a Powerwall 3. A three-phase controller carrying five or six modules, a HomePro gateway and a DC charger is a different conversation, and should be. How to compare two SigenStor quotes
Without a list price, comparison is about matching the spec, not the total. Five questions do most of the work:
- Which battery modules, by model and usable kWh? Compare usable energy, not total.
- Is a gateway included, and what does "backup" mean here? Whole-home or selected circuits, and which HomePro.
- Is the EV DC module in or out? And if in, standard 12.5 kW or a licence-boosted 25 kW model?
- Who makes the network operator application, and is scaffolding in or provisional?
- Which warranty terms are you being sold?
On the last one: Sigenergy's European warranty gives 10 years on the BAT modules, the Energy Controllers and the battery connector and 3 years on the EVDC modules, for products installed on or after 1 June 2023; the Sigen Gateway models carry 5 years under a separate document. The performance guarantee is at least 60% of usable energy for 10 years or until a throughput cap is reached — 20.44 MWh on the BAT 6.0, 30.66 MWh on the BAT 10.0. An extended warranty adds five years if bought within 12 months of installation, capping cover at 15 years. These are European documents; there is no separate UK one.
Two conditions people miss. The clock starts at the earlier of on-site activation or 180 days after factory shipment, and the system has to stay online — it enters Safe Operation Mode after 90 days offline, and more than a year disconnected cumulatively cuts the 10-year cover to 5 years from activation. Our take from installing them
We have two complete SigenStor installs filmed end to end — a solar and battery install on a slate roof and a SigenStor with full home backup. Ten minutes of those tells you more about what you are paying for than any brochure.
Sigenergy claims a 15-minute stackable installation and five-minute commissioning, and says the modules "auto plug once stacked" instead of being hand-wired. The stacking genuinely is quick. But it is not what decides the cost of the day — the consumer unit, the cable route and the network operator's paperwork decide the day, and they would whatever battery was going on the wall.
Where we would tell you not to spend: if power cuts do not worry you and you have no EV, the gateway and the DC module are money you do not need, and a smaller stack with room to grow is the better buy. If you have no solar yet, get the array right first — a battery multiplies what the roof produces, it does not replace it. The extra money earns its keep if you will use the system. mySigen shows a 3D energy-flow screen refreshed every ten seconds and takes dynamic tariff data from Octopus Energy for British users, and Sigenergy claims its AI Mode delivers up to 50% higher average returns than traditional self-consumption mode — a manufacturer claim we have not verified. Some households get real value from that; others open the app twice and never again, and should buy accordingly.
