Terms & Conditions
These terms and conditions govern the provision of electrical and renewable energy installation services by Alps Electrical Ltd.
Last updated: January 2025
1. Company Information
These terms apply to all services provided by Alps Electrical Ltd, registered in England and Wales under company number 14434249. Our registered address is 10 Levington Mews, Thirsk Road, Kirklevington, Yarm, TS15 9WF. References to "we", "us" or "our" refer to Alps Electrical Ltd. References to "you" or "your" refer to the customer.
2. Services
We provide solar panel installation, battery storage installation, Tesla Powerwall installation, EV charger installation, domestic and commercial electrical services, EICR testing, consumer unit upgrades, solar maintenance and related services. All services are subject to a prior survey and assessment of your property.
The specific scope of work for each project will be detailed in a written quotation provided to you before any work commences. This quotation forms part of these terms and conditions.
3. Quotations and Pricing
All quotations are provided free of charge and are valid for 30 days from the date of issue unless otherwise stated. Quotations are based on the information provided to us and the findings of our property survey. If additional work is required that was not apparent at the time of quotation, we will inform you and provide a revised quotation before proceeding.
Prices include VAT where applicable. Domestic solar panel and battery storage installations are currently zero-rated for VAT in the United Kingdom. Other electrical work is subject to VAT at the standard rate of 20 percent.
We do not charge for surveys, consultations or quotations. There is no obligation following a survey.
4. Deposits and Payment
For solar panel, battery storage and EV charger installations, a deposit is required to secure your installation date and order materials. The deposit amount will be stated on your quotation, typically 25 percent of the total project cost.
The remaining balance is due upon satisfactory completion of the installation. Payment can be made by bank transfer, debit card or credit card. We do not accept cash payments for amounts exceeding £1,000.
For smaller electrical works such as EICR testing, consumer unit upgrades and minor repairs, payment in full is due upon completion of the work.
5. Installation and Timescales
We will provide an estimated installation date at the time of quotation acceptance. Installation dates are subject to material availability, weather conditions (for external work), and Distribution Network Operator (DNO) approval where required.
Solar panel and battery storage installations typically require G98 or G99 notification to Northern Powergrid or the relevant DNO. We handle all DNO applications on your behalf at no additional cost. For systems requiring G99 approval (over 3.68kW single phase), installation may be subject to DNO approval timescales which are outside our control.
We will make every reasonable effort to complete installations on the agreed date. If delays occur due to circumstances beyond our control, we will notify you as soon as possible and arrange an alternative date.
6. Customer Responsibilities
You are responsible for providing safe and reasonable access to your property on the agreed installation date. This includes ensuring clear access to the roof area, loft space, consumer unit and any areas where equipment will be installed.
You must inform us before the survey of any known structural issues, asbestos, planning restrictions, leasehold conditions, listed building status or conservation area designations that may affect the installation.
You must ensure that someone over the age of 18 is present at the property during the installation to provide access and make decisions if required.
7. Warranties and Guarantees
All solar panels, inverters, batteries and other equipment carry manufacturer warranties as specified in your quotation documentation. Warranty periods vary by manufacturer and product but typically range from 10 to 25 years for solar panels, 5 to 12 years for inverters and 10 to 15 years for batteries.
Our workmanship is guaranteed for a minimum of 5 years from the date of installation. This covers all installation work including electrical connections, roof mounting, cable routing and commissioning. MCS certified installations are additionally covered by the RECC Consumer Code and carry insurance-backed warranty protection.
Warranty claims should be directed to us in the first instance. We will liaise with manufacturers on your behalf where the issue relates to a product defect.
8. Cancellation and Cooling-Off Period
In accordance with the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, you have a 14-day cooling-off period from the date you accept our quotation during which you may cancel without penalty.
If you cancel after the cooling-off period but before installation has commenced, any deposit paid will be refunded less reasonable costs incurred for materials already ordered specifically for your project.
If you cancel after installation has commenced, you will be liable for the cost of work completed and materials supplied up to the point of cancellation.
9. Liability and Insurance
Alps Electrical Ltd holds comprehensive public liability insurance and professional indemnity insurance. We are NAPIT Registered Competent Persons, authorised to self-certify notifiable electrical work under Part P of the Building Regulations.
We take all reasonable care during installation to protect your property. In the unlikely event that damage occurs as a direct result of our work, we will rectify or compensate for the damage.
Our liability is limited to the contract value or the sum insured under our public liability policy, whichever is greater. We are not liable for indirect losses, loss of earnings or consequential damages except where required by law.
10. Accreditations and Compliance
All work is carried out in accordance with current editions of BS 7671 (IET Wiring Regulations), MCS standards (for solar and battery installations), IET Code of Practice for Electric Vehicle Charging Equipment Installation, and all applicable Building Regulations.
